Update for COVID-19 Diagnostic Tests for HMSA Members

HMSA Commercial plan members
HMSA is making tests available for commercial members at no cost through Kuhio Medical Center (an HMSA preferred provider and a subsidiary of HMSA).
The tests are available to order. To order tests, HMSA commercial plan members can call (808) 951-1956, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, log in to My Account on hmsa.com or call (808) 951-1956.
You can still use in-person diagnostic COVID-19 testing sites. These may include your doctor’s office, a pharmacy, a health clinic, or an urgent care center.
You can buy over-the-counter at-home diagnostic tests online or over the counter from a local pharmacy or big-box store. HMSA will reimburse commercial plan members up to $12 per test. Members can be reimbursed for up to eight tests per month.
The over-the-counter at-home COVID-19 test must be authorized, cleared, or approved by the FDA. To see if a test is eligible for reimbursement, visit the FDA website for a list of authorized, cleared, or approved rapid antigen-based tests and molecular-based (PCR) tests. Tests available for reimbursement should say “OTC” for over-the-counter at-home tests.
To get reimbursed for COVID-19 tests bought over the counter, go to My Account on hmsa.com and click Member Login. Once you’re logged in, go to the Claims tab, and click the COVID-19 test reimbursement form. HMSA Medicare Advantage plan members
As of April 4, Medicare will cover over-the-counter at-home COVID-19 diagnostic tests if your Medicare Advantage plan includes Part B.
Members with Medicare Part B can get up to eight free over-the-counter tests for the month and can then get another set of eight free over-the-counter tests each month until the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency.
HMSA Medicare Advantage plan members can get the test from participating pharmacies or health care providers. Go to medicare.gov for a list of participating pharmacies. Members must show their red, white, and blue Medicare card (not their HMSA Medicare Advantage card) when at a participating pharmacy or provider.

HMSA QUEST Integration (Medicaid) plan members
As of Aug. 1, HMSA QUEST Integration members can go to an HMSA participating pharmacy and get over-the-counter at-home COVID-19 diagnostic tests at no cost.
You can get up to four tests per day from participating pharmacies (if available on shelf), up to eight test per month at no cost. You must show your HMSA QUEST Integration membership card to get your free tests.
